Napoleon Fire and Rescue employs full time firefighter/paramedics who perform a wide variety of tasks. Some tasks include fire and EMS daily training, fire inspections, vehicle maintenance, and public education events. This position must be a State of Ohio certified firefighter and paramedic. Napoleon Fire and Rescue employs permanent part time firefighter/EMTs. These members work 12 hour shifts and supplement the full time staff. They are required to maintain at minimum State Certification in firefighter I and EMT basic. Permanent part time members benefit from a defined schedule and shift. Napoleon Fire and Rescue employs local volunteer part paid firefighters and/or EMTs. These members work when emergencies arise. They are not required to be certified at time of hire but are expected to work towards obtaining their State of Ohio certifications of firefighter I and/or EMT basic. These members respond from work or home and are paid per hour. Napoleon Fire and Rescue takes great pride in their volunteers and assists by paying hours and costs for certifying courses.
Napoleon Fire and Rescue employs part time adjunct EMS/fire instructors to teach area firefighters in all aspects of the fire service. We boast a training facility for life fire evolutions, rope rescue training, search and rescue, vehicle fire, and extrication training. We also have facilities at the station for instructors to lecture on many topics. EMS, Fire, or specialized rescue adjunct instructors are required to have a minimum of a State of Ohio certificate as a continuing education instructor. Instructors that specialize in live fire, rope rescue, water rescue, and paramedic level education are highly desired. Napoleon Fire and Rescue auxiliary members dedicate their time and expertise to providing on-scene support to operational members by providing food and water to keep their energy high while working on intense and extended emergency incidents. They also plan and prepare fundraising events and assist with Department events.
