On January 14th, 2018 at 0010 Napoleon Fire & Rescue was dispatched for a washer fire. Upon arrival the crews encountered a well involved structure fire. Engine 811 had heavy smoke and fire that was coming out of the rear of the structure. The crew entered a “Transitional Attack” mode. This means the crew applied water from the exterior before attempting to make an interior attack. The fire quickly made it to the attic space and brought on new challenges to crews. There were a lot of hotspots that were taken care of and extensive overhaul that was completed.
Napoleon Fire & Rescue was assisted on scene by Ridgeville Fire, Monroe Township Fire, Holgate Fire, Ohio Gas, Napoleon Police, Operations, Water, and Electric departments.
A full investigation of the fire will be performed by The State Fire Marshalls office and the cause remains under investigation at this time.
Crews were on scene for approximately six and half (6.5) hours and used approximately 63,000 gallons of water. There was extensive damage to the structure and the interior contents. The dollar amount it is yet to be determined. The structure was not occupied at the time of the fire. There were no injuries reported.
